As spiritual growth is an inner journey, so it should not be gauged by external lifestyle and material possessions. To walk on the spiritual path, one does not need to give up all material possession and money to live a secluded life, like swamis, monks, yogis and fakir.
Some kinds of material possessions are essential to walk on the spiritual path. One needs a place to stay, clothes to wear, food to eat. Without them, it will be more difficult to walk on the path of spiritual growth. These survival material things help one to concentrate or meditate without any distraction and disturbance.
The greatest path of spiritual growth is meditation. In meditation, we detach ourselves of all material conditions and feel our divine nature. When our mind is fully concentrated, we are unconscious of the outside world without renunciations with them. One can accumulate power through meditation and become an apostle of spirituality.
